Wellness Wednesdays: Mental Health and Well-being Tips for All

The Inner Me

Supporting and practicing self-confidence can assist us in valuing our uniqueness, and to be comfortable expressing our opinions. Knowing who you are and holding firm to the person you believe yourself to be in the face of life’s challenges and choices, is a life-long skill that can begin to develop in childhood. We all have a key role in helping to show others that they matter, and that they bring value to the world. Even as adults we don’t often pause and think about our unique strengths and qualities.

In today’s Wellness Wednesday post, we are challenged to get to know ourselves more and share this with a friend or partner.

Try this:

In pairs, gather 2 pieces of paper and a writing or colouring utensil (pencil, marker, crayon):
  1. Spend at least five minutes reflecting on who you are and how you feel.
  2. Create a picture to describe yourself or use words to describe what you look like and how you feel.
  3. With your partner, review each picture together. With appreciation for yourself and your partner, find a way to compliment your partner and compliment yourself.
  4. Talk about what’s the same or unique about your picture and your partner’s.

Ask yourself, there is no wrong answer:

When you consider your identity and how you see yourself, how do you feel your uniqueness shines through?

How has this activity helped you accept you for you?
